His forte is designing and delivering secure, cost-effective solutions to comply with stringent manufacturing standards and regulations. He believes in rigorous IT governance, risk assessment, and compliance programs to detect and defend against digital fraud, theft of intellectual property, and data loss.

Ed is a natural builder as he develops strategy and action plans to close critical technology gaps through process improvement, technology adoption, and security awareness training for employees. His service-based approach leverages creative thinking and collaboration to ensure IT solutions contribute to the achievement of business goals. He actively recruits, manages, and mentors global IT teams to solve complex problems. A thought leader in cybersecurity, Ed shares his perspective at industry convenings and as an expert witness.

As the inaugural Chief Information Security Officer of CSL Behring, a global bio-pharmaceutical organization with $10 billion in annual revenues and a history of serving patients for over a century, Ed built the cybersecurity organization from scratch. The company had evolved to offer a broad range of quality plasma-derived and recombinant therapies, and it recognized the need to have a strong security framework and infrastructure. Ed prioritized initiatives to strengthen identity and access management, networking, data centers, and application security. His accomplishments included significant security improvement projects in manufacturing, network redesign, data centers, and global vulnerability and identity management. He also instilled a continuous compliance security review and risk management culture.

As Vice President at Forrester Research, Ed was the lead analyst for security services. His coverage areas centered on threat intelligence, network security, strategy, and analytics and he was ranked twice as a Top 25 analyst. Earlier, Ed served as a Client Engagement Partner at Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), then a Fortune 175 company recognized as a global leader for IT and business services, where he managed a portfolio including ERP implementations, business intelligence, and network infrastructure projects for large multinational clients.

Reflecting on his deep knowledge and commitment to advancing next-generation professionals, Ed served as an adjunct professor at Temple University for six years. He taught classes on data analytics for fraud, network security, and intrusion detection for six years. Ed received a US patent for developing software requirements traceability using the Unified Modeling Language (UML) and software patterns.

Ed graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Franklin & Marshall College. He continued his studies at the University of Delaware, where he earned a Master of Arts in Computer-Based Instruction and Learning, then graduated cum laude with a Master of Science in Information Assurance (Cybersecurity) from Norwich University. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and sought-after thought leader who speaks frequently at industry convenings and authors articles on cybersecurity and sustainability. Away from his virtual office, Ed enjoys sailing, biking, and backpacking.
